- Dr. Tong Yui, Department of Humanities and Creative Writing
- Dr. Andrew Brenner, Department of Religion and Philosophy
- Dr. Yau Wai Ping, Department of Translation, Interpreting and Intercultural Studies
Guidelines of meeting Faculty Academic Advisors
The primary purpose of the Faculty Academic Advising Programme is to assist students in the development of meaningful educational plans, and is not intended to be a formal test of their academic abilities. The following guidelines are intended to help students prepare for an appointment process.
- Contact the Dean's office (e-mail: artsug@hkbu.edu.hk or phone: 3411 5860) to schedule an appointment with a Faculty Academic Advisor whenever assistance is needed.
- Please do not email/call the Advisors directly. Advisors will not meet students without prior appointment arranged by the Dean’s Office.
- If you cannot attend the scheduled meeting, you should inform the Dean's office at least 24 hours before the appointment. This will give another student the chance to use that timeslot to meet the Advisor.
- You are expected to be punctual. If you are late to your appointment by more than 10 minutes, the appointment will be cancelled and you are required to make another appointment.
- You are encouraged to take the initiative to seek academic advice from Advisors. Please prepare for the meeting with a list of questions.
- Meetings are only offered during term time.

Department/Programme Mentors
The Mentoring Programme aims to encourage quality interaction and close rapport between students and faculty members beyond the classrooms. It also provides students with a network for academic and social exploration.
Each department/programme (CHI, ENG, HMW, REL and TIIS) will organise one mentoring activity per semester (e.g., talk, seminar or film screening, followed by a group discussion or tea gathering). You are strongly encouraged to attend at least one department/programme-based mentoring activity and meet with the Mentors in year 1.
The contact information of the mentors can be found from the department/programme websites:
